WHAT IS ECO-STUDY TOUR

Eco-Study Tour is an action to realize the concept of Historic Eco-Museum, that is the result of collaborated research between Hue Monuments.
Conservation Center (HMCC) and a research team of Waseda University in Japan.
On our Eco-study tour

You can learn the relationship between design concept of the Emperor’s Mausoleum and landscape including the villager’s life style, that was recognized by the collaborative research with local community.

You can enjoy various activities with the beautiful landscape and watersite in the territory of the emperor’s tomb, local foods and interact with the local people of Định Môn village.

These activities also aim at development of the village and creating job opportunities for local community.

ABOUT US

Eco-Study Tour is organized by REG Tour cooperated with Local community and supported by academic advisors.
REG TOUR is a social enterprise operating in the field of educational tourism.

REG TOUR was established after several years of intensive research on the landscape planning at the heritage sites in Huế conducted by Waseda University of Japan in collaboration with Huế Monuments Conservation Center since 2013.

ACADEMIC ADVISOR

Gia Long Tomb and its surrounding territory is an important facility as the Emperor’s tomb, but it is integrated with the local villages to maintain the water environment and cultural landscape. This is the idea of Gia Long Emperor that reflects the climate and culture of living with nature in this central and southern part of Vietnam. Therefore, in this Eco-study tour, the people of the Dinh-Mon village community who maintain the area are important actors along with various heritage such as the Imperial Mausoleum. The content of this tour was also create together by listening to the narratives and culture of the villagers through several workshops together. Therefore, the people in the village are join as tour guides and also provide delicious local food.

TOUR PROGRAM

Eco-study Tour at Gia Long Tomb and Thiên Thọ Territory

Morning tour : 8 hours (8:00 – 16:00)
ITINERARY:
– 8:00 AM – We pick you up at your hotel and transfer by car to Dinh Mon village where you will start your excursion taking bicycle/motor ride or going on foot to the Gia Long Tomb area. (about 1km)
You will be accompanied by our tour guide and a local guide who will lead you through the history and cultural landscape as well as the design of the area which is supposed to be unique and transcendent while observing the local villagers cultivating the rice on the fields within the heritage.
– 11:00 After an intensive experience of about 2.5 hours in this so-called eco museum, you will be accompanied back to the village. While you take a rest, you will enjoy the traditional cooking with local organic food grown by the villagers and eat the traditional lunch in the typical villagers’ house.

After lunch you have two options:
Option 1:
– 13:00: After lunch and a short break, you can have a village tour to learn about local traditions and visit some mounments associated with Gia Long tomb; enjoy making traditional cakes of Huế or experience making handmade natural cosmetics to bring home as gifts.
– 15:30 You will be sent back to your hotel by our guide.
Option 2: For summer only !
– 13:00 After lunch and a short break, local people will take you to Thien Tho mountain – which is centered in front of the emperor’s tomb from which you will have a view to the mighty historical complex of Gia Long Tomb and enjoy the picturesque setting of the lake highlighted with small islets. Rowing on bamboo-made rafts or boats in the lake is also part of our offer.
-15:30 You will be sent back to your hotel by our guide.

Afternoon tour: 13:00 – 20:00 (8 hours)
ITINERARY:
– 13:00 AM – We pick you up at your hotel and transfer by car to Dinh Mon village where you will start your excursion taking bicycle/motor ride or going on foot to the Gia Long Tomb area. (about 1km)

– 16:00 After finishing an intensive experience of about 2.5 hours in this so-called eco museum, you have two options:
Option 1:
You will have a village tour and visit a local home to enjoy making traditional cakes of Huế or experience making handmade natural cosmetics to bring home as gifts.
– 18:30 Enjoy the traditional cooking with local organic food grown by the villagers and have the traditional dinner in the typical villagers’ house.
– 19:30 You will be sent back to your hotel by our guide.
Option 2: For summer only !
– 16:00 Local people and our guide will take you to Thien Tho mountain – which is centered in front of the emperor’s tomb from which you will have a view to the mighty historical complex of Gia Long Tomb and enjoy the picturesque setting of the lake highlighted with small islets. Riding boats in the lake and having barbecue is also part of our offer.
– 18:30 Having dinner with local organic food grown and cooked by the villagers in the typical villagers’ house.
– 19:30 You will be sent back to your hotel by our guide

CANCELLATION POLICY:
The refunds we make are listed below and are based on our administration costs and the reasonable expectation of a booking replacement.
Cancel more than 30 days in advance – 85% refund.
Cancel between 30 and 8 days before departure – 50% refund.
Cancel between 7 days and 48 hours before departure – 25% refund.
Cancel less than 48 hours before departure – no refund.
